Thanks to a grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) we will be hosting a series of 4 educational workshops over the next several months. We are in the planning process and information is constantly being updated. Below is our current information. More detailed descriptions of the workshops.

NEW DATE - August 12, 2017 - Paxton Creek, Your Local Waterway. This FREE workshop is geared toward home owners and residents along Paxton Creek and its tributaries. It will provide basic educational information about stormwater runoff, water quality, and water quantity issues facing the Paxton Creek Watershed. There will be drawings for 2 FREE Rain Barrels. Location: Susquehanna Township Municipal Building, 1900 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Time: 9:00 - 10:30 AM. Those living along the main stream and its tributaries should look for more information in their USPS mail. Also check back to this website and our Facebook page for updates. August 10, 2017 - Rainbarrel Education for Businesses. FREE Workshop attendees will learn how to build and properly utilize rain barrels particularly as they can be used on business properties (and churches). They will also learn about stormwater runoff, non-point source pollution, and ways to conserve water. Businesses often have large buildings and parking lots that contribute large quantities of stormwater runoff to streams, roadways, and sewer systems. This workshop will address concerns related to this type of stormwater management. There will be drawings for 2 FREE Rain Barrels. September 16, 2017 - Watershed Decisions for Students & Their Families. This hands-on workshop is geared toward youth 12 to 18 years old. It will be lead by Penn State Extension, Watershed Youth Development Educator, Jennifer Fetter. The workshop has been designed by Jen to help older youth and adults to better understand water quality issues surrounding small watersheds and the decision making processes that go into improving water quality issues. October 4, 2017- Greening Our Cities & Towns. Presented by Thomas Hylton, Pulitzer Prize Winning Author and Conservationist. This workshop explores the many ways that trees can transform the livibility of our cities and towns. Location: Appalachian Brewing Company, 50 N Cameron St, Harrisburg, PA 17101.
