Most important to the effectiveness of the Paxton Creek Watershed and Education Association (PCWEA) are people and organizations who are generous with their time, cooperation, expertise, and resources. The PCWEA is mainly a volunteer organization, that depends upon the willing cooperation of stakeholders, partners, and others. The PCWEA Partners are of two kinds -- individual persons who have made contributions to environmental enhancement, education, and protection within Paxton Creek watershed; and organizations that support these efforts. Their contributions take many forms, from labor donations and pro-active influence, to finance and other resources.
Partnerships are apart from membership.A special recognition, The Lotus and Torch Award, is afforded to partners who have exhibited exceptional contributions toward watershed improvement, habitat stewardship, or environmental education on Paxton Creek. The first recipient of this award is Ralph Kinter of Lower Paxton Township. As an environmental steward Ralph was a model for all peoples and all times. Among his many accomplishments was his personal dedication to maintain a three mile stretch along the Appalachian Trail for nearly 30 years. He was an avid defender of wetland habitats, with self-taught botanical skills respected by scholarly experts. Kinter Point, a beautiful Northern Boardwalk site in Wildwood Lake Sanctuary, is dedicated in memory of Ralph Kinter.
